Full steam ahead in 2010 at Ondina Studio
Happy New Year, some of you may still be on leave, if you are I hope you are enjoying a well deserved break. For those of you who are back, I’m sure it is full steam ahead into 2010.
I wish for you all a wonderful and prosperous year ahead.
Kieran and I enjoyed a break with friends in Port Lincoln, where on our first day we faced horrific fires that destroyed 13 homes and shook the local community, after getting over the shock we were able enjoy a lovely Christmas and discovered the wonderful beaches and coast line of that part of South Australia.
Then a few days in the Blue Mountains at the Wolgan Valley Resort, which only opened in October, the staff were still getting use to the way things needed to be done, it was a lot of fun and we were able to explore part of this magnificent county on horseback, mountain bikes and our own two legs, which is the option I took, apart from one very tentative ride on a wonderful friendly horse call Marshmallow, the name says it all…… then back home to move house, almost all done and ready to settle into an exciting year ahead.

Ondina Studio changes in 2010
Reflecting back on 2009, I realise this has been a year of reassessment and change for a lot of us. Many of my own clients are changing their work and life situations, business are changing the way they do business, and consumers are changing the way they shop and opportunities present themselves when you least expect them to.
One such opportunity has presented itself to me just recently which will mean that I will be transforming the my business in 2010.
The current studio premises has been sold and the new owners have decided they would like to use the space for their own business. This means that there will be a new exciting business located upstairs in Kennedy street so you will have to keep your eyes for that.
On my business side of things, I will be changing the way that I provide my service, that isn’t confined to the bricks and mortar of the Studio. I am in the final stages of establishing this new business model and will keep you updated over the next few weeks.
What does this mean for the studio? Well it means business as usual until the last day of trading which will be 30th January 2010, this also means a great summer and pre Christmas sale which takes on a whole new significance as it will be the last in the studio as you know it today. I am committed to ensuring that anyone that would like to book an appointment with me before the end of January is able to, but I only have a limited number left before Christmas.
Are we having a closing down sale? We aren’t exactly closing down – just changing the way we do business. There will be some extra special sale items in our summer sale with 30-50% off the summer collection and 20% off all accessories. By making an appointment to see myself or Fay will ensure you find the right garments at a very special price, and perhaps find something special for the Christmas party season.
Will the stock last through the sale? We will be promoting the summer sale and our last 2 months in the studio quite heavily in the media locally and into regional NSW, but as valued clients you will always take preference so please contact myself, Faye or Michelle so we can set the time aside for you.
Although this will be far from the last time you hear from me, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for your support through the last 14 years and I hope you will join me for the next exciting chapter and an exciting 2010.
Warmest regards
Ondina and the team

A time for classics
Around 50 women walked up the stairs and into the warmth of Ondina Studio last night, to enjoy an evening of the latest winter fashion. Our models Lauren, Belinda, and Ondina Studio client and special guest model for the evening, Catherine, showcased ways in which classic, quality pieces can add new life and value to your wardrobe. As the current global economic situation would suggest, never has there been a better time to invest in quality pieces that stand the test of both style and time, and the collection shown at Ondina Studio demonstrated this strength.
As Natalie Bridges, the editor of New Zealand fashion magazine Simply You, writes in the latest edition, ‘In this climate, it’s not what you spend, but how you spend it- and wear it- that matters.’ Ms Bridges also encourages a focus on ‘updating rather than entirely replacing your wardrobe’, and the versatility of key items that can be mixed and matched was shown at the Ondina Studio parade.
Current media is also making it clear that we are seeing a rise of the so-called ’slow fashion’ movement, which The Sydney Morning Herald recently described as ‘focusing on designs that will stay in fashion over several seasons and high-quality fabrics that are made to last.’ Adding sustainable items to work with what you already have in your closet, and knowing which trends will be worth investing in, create a wardrobe where the shift from quantity to quality will be both valuable and visible.
Military Style
One trend that is dominating this winter is the military style. This time, military influence does not refer to the dull khaki or camouflage of recent years, but to a structured, authoritarian silhouette. And it looks as though this trend is here to stay, as Australian Fashion week recently showed the same influences for the upcoming summer months.
Our latest winter fashion parade photos can be viewed at www.ondinastudio.com.au , where you can see examples of stylish, military inspired pieces, such as suits by George Gross and coats by Caractere.
